Impact

Humans have impacted the environment in many detrimental ways. Some examples are burning fossil fuels, overpopulation, pollution, overuse of plastic, deforestation, overfishing, and more. It is important that we take care of our planet and try to minimize the negative effects. It may not be possible for the effects to reverse, but there are steps we can take to become eco-friendly.

In 2018, the plastic generation in the United States was 35.7 million tons, which was 12.2% of the municipal solid waste (MSW) generation. Only about 8-9% of this plastic was recyclable. Many people tend to use plastic as it is convenient, but a lot of it ends up in the marine environments.
